New Identity Malta Procedures

Identity Malta has introduced the ‘Temporary Authorisation to Work’ on the 23rd July, for still-abroad applicants to immediately start working with their prospective employer once they have finalised their application in Malta.

Upon their arrival, applicants are expected to fill in Form ID 1A, have their biometric features taken; and present the set of documents mentioned below:

(i) Copy of Passport Bio Page

(ii) Copy of VISA

(iii) Property lease/purchase agreement

(iv) Health Insurance Policy

(v) Qualification certifications and/or Reference Letters (ORIGINAL)

(vi) Health screening

All necessary verifications by Identity Malta, Jobsplus and the Police Immigration Office should be concluded prior to the applicant’s departure to Malta.

Persons holding a Temporary Authorization to Work shall be able to take up employment if:

(a) The prospective employer notifies Jobsplus about the temporary recruitment and submits an engagement form, with a copy of the said permit;

(b) The holder of this interim permit should commence employment within the period of 7 days from the date of the interim permit;

(c) The holder of the interim permit would be registered with the Inland Revenue Department for the purpose of income tax and social security; and
